The Elmhurst University women’s soccer team has been having a great 2026 season so far. The Bluejays have put together some strong performances and continue to show that they can compete with teams throughout the CCIW.

One of their recent highlights was a 3-1 win over North Park University (NPU) on Oct. 21. The team played well on both offense and defense, and several players stepped up to help EU get the win.

EU came into its game against NPU ready to compete, and the team showed that throughout the match. The Bluejays finished with 21 shots, compared to NPU’s 10, which shows how much pressure they were able to put on their opponent. EU also had nine shots on goal, giving themselves plenty of chances to score.

The first goal came late in the first half when forward/midfielder Calli Edwards scored 44 minutes in. Forward/midfielder Maddie Cummings assisted on the goal, giving EU a 1-0 lead right before halftime. Scoring that late in the half was important because it gave the Bluejays momentum going into the break.

EU kept things going in the second half. Defender Nora Simon scored at 57 minutes to make it 2-0, putting the team in a good position to finish the game. NPU responded a few minutes later with a goal from forward Almi Palmér, making the score 2-1 and giving the Vikings a chance to get back into the game.

However, EU did not let the pressure get to them. Midfielder/forward Alaina Clark scored in the 87th minute to make it 3-1 and put the game away. The goal gave the Bluejays some breathing room and secured another important win for the team.

Goalkeeper Erin Fitzharris also helped the team by making two saves. Overall, EU did a good job creating scoring opportunities, staying focused, and finishing the game strong.

There were several players who stood out during the win over NPU. Edwards played an important role by scoring the first goal of the game. Her goal right before halftime helped Elmhurst take control early and gave the team confidence going into the second half.

Simon also had a great game. Not only did she help on the defensive side, but she also scored the second goal to extend EU’s lead. Having defenders contribute offensively can make a big difference because it gives the team more ways to score.

Clark was another standout player, scoring the final goal late in the game. With five goals on the season, she has been an important part of EU’s offense. Cummings also deserves recognition for recording two assists.

Forward Lauren Nevins contributed as well, leading EU with six shots in the game. Even though not every shot resulted in a goal, her ability to create chances helped keep NPU’s defense busy.

The win over NPU is another positive sign for EU as the season continues. The team has shown that it can score goals from different players and keep playing hard even when an opponent scores. That kind of teamwork will be important as the Bluejays continue competing in conference play.

If EU can keep up its strong offense while staying organized on defense, the team could have a lot to look forward to as the season moves toward the postseason.

The Bluejays faced Carroll University on Oct. 24, where they hit game five of their winning streak, defeating the Pioneers 2-0. The team faces Carthage College on Oct. 28.
