New COVID-19 relief grant announced for eligible students

Published by Nujaimah Kholwadia on April 17, 2021

The university’s COVID Relief Grant program is offering full-time students returning in fall 2021 scholarships of up to $1,000. Students who apply for the funding must demonstrate financial need and should have a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or higher.

The scholarship was announced at the beginning of April and the program’s duration has yet to be determined. “Our plan is for the program to continue as long as conditions warrant,” explained Nathan Hancock, director of student financial services.

There is no limit to the number of scholarships that will be distributed. Scholarships will be included as part of the receiving student’s annual financial aid package.

Applicants have been asked to write an essay describing the impact of COVID-19 on their lives. Once the applications are submitted, they will be reviewed and candidates will be notified about the status of their eligibility within a few weeks.

The deadline for this application is 5:00 p.m. C.S.T. on Friday, April 30, 2021.
