In a tight presidential race spanning four days, Joe Biden is announced as president-elect on Saturday morning.
Biden received a total of 284 electoral college votes against incumbent President Donald Trump, who received a total of 214 electoral votes.
On Friday, Trump and Biden saw themselves in narrow margins in Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, and Pennsylvania, Biden leading in all four.
The key battleground states crucial in determining the outcome of the election were Arizona, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Michigan, Nevada, Wisconsin, Florida, Iowa, Georgia, and Ohio.
Biden was the projected winner and held leads in the states of Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Georgia.
Of these five state states, Trump won Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania in the 2016 election against Hilary Clinton.
Biden and Kamala Harris addressed the nation for the first time in Wilmington, DE as president and vice president-elect Saturday evening to a crowd full of American flags, cheers, and car horns honking.
Harris spoke about how together her and Biden will work to reform and root out systemic racism in the United States.
Harris makes history as the first female and person of color to be elected as a vice president in America.
"While I may be the first woman in this office, I will not be the last, because every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities," Harris said to the crowd.
Harris introduced Biden to the crowd and the president-elect jogged up to the stage to address the country.
In his speech, he promised to be a president who would work to bring the country back together instead of dividing it, mentioning throughout his campaign that he runs as a proud Democrat, but will be an American president for democrats and republicans.
"I pledge to be a president who seeks not to divide but unify, who doesn't see red states and blue states, but only sees the United States," Biden said in his home state to a crowd of cheering supporters.
Biden makes history this election as the presidential candidate earning the most votes in American history with over 74 million votes.
