This semester, student organizations and clubs are accommodating to COVID-19 restrictions while organizing campus-wide events.

Despite the newly introduced restrictions, many students are glad to be given an opportunity to interact with the rest of the campus community.

“It was difficult learning to do origami via Zoom, but overall, everything was great,” Krystal Tran said about the first virtual “Origami and Tea” event offered by EU’s Asian Club.

For in-person events, students are required to wear face masks and observe 6 feet of social distancing.

The first in-person event this term took place on Sept. 11, when the Queer-Straight Alliance Organization held glow-in-the-dark yoga on the mall.

During the year’s homecoming week, Union Board offered both virtual and in-person events, such as a drive-in movie, mini-golf, and giveaways.

Sonali Rajput, president of Union Board, said that socially distanced in-person events were organized for “students that were tired of Zoom-fatigue and really needed to get out of their dorms.”

“We offered a virtual game show for students that weren't comfortable being around lots of people but still wanted to participate,” Rajput explained about the variety of activities.

“During homecoming, it was great to show some school spirit while also being safe and online,” shared sophomore Riley Deahl, who attended the online events.

“While it’s not the same as having events in person, I really enjoyed it,” she said.
