Kobe Bryant and Gianna Bryant put to rest in private funeral

Published by Gianna Montesano on February 19, 2020

NBA star Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant were laid to rest in a private funeral on Feb. 7 in Corona Del Mar, Calif.

Bryant and his daughter were two of nine victims in a helicopter crash on Sunday, Jan. 26 that took the life of everyone on board en route to a basketball practice at the Mamba Sports Academy, recently renamed by Vanessa Bryant as the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation.

On their way to the practice, the helicopter hit Santa Monica mountains due to low visibility from fog, and the helicopter caught fire.

The helicopter crash also claimed the lives of Alyssa Altobelli, John Altobelli, Keri Altobelli, Payton Chester, Sarah Chester, Christina Mauser, and the helicopter's pilot, Ara Zobayan.

There will be a public memorial at the Los Angeles Staples Center on Feb. 24 for fans to remember the life of Kobe Bryant.
