Bluejays fall hard to North Central in a 82-7 loss

The Bluejays had a rough start in their 82-7 loss to North Central College on Saturday, November 2.

Out of the gates, the Bluejays struggled to hold down the Cardinals down giving up three touchdowns with no answer back in the first quarter. Through the second quarter, the Cardinals added five more touchdowns.

Ben Fridrich was sole scorer in Saturday’s game. The EC offense finally made their scoring appearance in the beginning of the third quarter. EC snatched the opening kickoff and in 11 plays drove 75 yards. The drive ended with a 14-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jake Tahaney to Fridrich.

The Cardinals kept the offense going an added four more touchdowns before the end of the game, leaving the loss at Langhorst Field 82-7.

EC left the game with 136 yards of offense passing for 62 and rushing for 74. Tahaney led the way on the ground with five carries and 49 yards while Fridrich grabbed 35 yards and scored a catch from Tahaney.

North Central totaled a whopping 678 yards of offense compared to EC’s 136. 382 of those yards were passing and 296 of them were rushing.

Three Bluejays; Lavor Little, Bryce Gable, and Zack Hazelhoff all added sacks. Stefan Postman and Tavey Durns led the way in tackles for EC gaining 10 and nine, respectively.

EC is now and 1-6 in the CCIW and 1-7 overall. The Bluejays will take the field again at North Park University November 9 at 1:00 p.m.
