Shooting threats found in Niebuhr Hall
UPDATE: The Office of Campus Security released a mass email on October 23 on 9:45 a.m. detailing the threats. See more below.
Shooting threats targeting Elmhurst College were found by students in the 2nd floor Niebuhr Hall bathroom on Tuesday night, October 22.
Campus security and Elmhurst Police were contacted and arrived to Niebuhr Hall at around 11:40 p.m.
This threat comes after two reported hate incidents in the same Niebuhr Hall bathroom in the last two days.
In a Wednesday morning email to the campus, Marc Molina, executive director of campus security, described the threats and said the investigation was ongoing.
“The threats were non-specific and initial evaluations of the information indicate there is no immediate or ongoing threat to safety on campus,” wrote Molina.
Molina also said his office along with the Elmhurst police have immediately increased patrol presence in Niebuhr Hall and the rest of the campus.
"Campus remains open, and classes continue to go on as scheduled," he added.
More updates to follow as the story develops.
