Campus closes for second day in a row
UPDATE: In a campus wide email sent 6:15 p.m., Elmhurst College revealed the graffiti was found in Dinkmeyer Hall and shared the institution is working to open Wednesday. For more details, see below.
Elmhurst College will be closed for the second time this week on Tuesday, October 29, after additional threatening graffiti was found in Dinkmeyer Hall.
In an email to the campus sent at 4 p.m. on Monday, October 28, President Troy VanAken announced that campus will be closed following the discovery.
This comes after the campus closed Monday, October 28 in response to a threatening message found Sunday night, October 27, in a library bathroom.
“It is yet unclear whether this message is fresh or was part of the same vandalism that was discovered Sunday night and prompted today’s campus closing,” said Vanaken.
While VanAken did not describe the graffiti found in detail in his email, he mentioned that the school is cooperating with law enforcement in the ongoing investigation.
In an effort to "provide an environment conducive for learning," the campus is working to open Wednesday, October 30, according to an EC press release. Additional security measures will also be taken, according to the press release.
