THE FOLLOWER: Chartwells Caught Fabricating YikYak Posts in Favor of Campus Dining
DISCLAIMER: This article is part of The Leader’s satire issue, The Follower, which released on April 1, 2026.
An investigation by The Leader found extensive evidence that Chartwells has been fabricating YikYak posts in favor of campus dining.
Experts are calling it “one of the most emotionally needy misinformation campaigns in campus dining history,” as they fabricated hundreds of YikYak posts praising its own food while aggressively agreeing with itself.
Investigations found that Chartwells’ fake accounts typically hold full conversations with one another, including debates that inevitably conclude with users agreeing students are being too hard on Chartwells.
In one especially coordinated incident, Chartwells, pretending to be anonymous students, posted the fake hate comment “can’t even have paper plates in this shitty ass campus,” only for the official Chartwells account to reply, “We unfortunately ran out of reusable plates and had to make a quick decision after the lack of plates being returned,” which they then subsequently upvoted with over 300 fake accounts. One fake account commented, “the ratio is insane.”
Additional comments made by Chartwells anonymous accounts include “the chicken is so fucking good,” “y’all need to stop complaining about the dining its actually good this semester,” and “thank you for the all the changes chartwells!”
Chartwells denied all allegations, including on YikYak, where 73 upvotes and supportive replies quickly followed, including the post “don’t worry Chartwells we all love the food” followed by an accidental leak of its burner account password: ChartwellsForLife
