Health Sciences Center Construction On Schedule: Slated for Fall 2025 Opening

The construction of EU’s new Health Sciences building is currently on time and on budget, with plans to complete construction by June 30th. Senior Director of Communications and External Relations, Desiree Chen, states that faculty and staff will begin moving in immediately after construction is completed, and students will begin taking classes in the new building at the start of the fall 2025 semester.
The new building, which will primarily be home to EU’s nursing program, will also support a variety of health programs which have been spread across campus, including occupational therapy and communications sciences and disorders. The building will also house general-purpose classrooms and the Jans Military and Veterans Center.
According to a statement from the Office of Marketing and Communications in March of 2024, Memorial Hall will be demolished following the opening of the new building, though certain elements of the building will be preserved, including the exterior pillars on the entrance and the bronze plaques of World War I soldiers who have died, giving Memorial Hall its namesake.
These elements will be preserved around campus and within the new building. They are expected to be removed in the summer of 2025. The plot of land where Memorial Hall resides will be turned into green space for students to occupy.
The facility is projected to cost $30 million, funded via grants to the University from the State of Illinois and donations from EU Alumni and community members.
