Bluejays’ defense costs them a Homecoming win
Fall is in the air, and the weather could not have been better for the mass amount of Bluejays fans that came to see their team win. But this was not the case.
The Bluejays fell 38-14 to the Carthage College Red Men, leaving Elmhurst College at 1-3 altogether and 1-2 in the CCIW.
EC could not fight the overpowering offense from Carthage. The Red Men scored on their first possession with an 18-yard touchdown pass. EC was able to respond early in the game with a 34-yard run and a touchdown from Jake Tahaney.
After that, Carthage took over. They scored on their next three possessions, leaving the game 28-7 at the half.
Carthage added another touchdown, leaving the score 38-7, but the Bluejays did not let that one go silent. Noah Henkel threw a 32-yarder to Casey Dobczyk for one more touchdown.
EC really got hit hard on defense after the Red Men took over with 554 yards of total offense compared to the Bluejays 254. Holding down what they could was Sean Jay with 11 tackles and Bryce Gable with six tackles.
EC will head out to St. Louis to play Washington University for their next game beginning at 1 p.m.
