Alpha Tau Omega EU Chapter Hosts Fundraiser to Support Former Student

The Alpha Tau Omega (ATO) Elmhurst University chapter is hosting an event at Brewpoint Coffee-Founder’s Cafe on Tuesday at 3 p.m. to raise funds for former student Nicholas Dávila.
Dávila attended EU during his freshman year before transferring to College of Dupage.
Dávila, 21, was shot in the head while driving in Chicago during Labor Day weekend, according to a GoFundMe page set up for his family. The page said that his car crashed after the shooting and he was rushed to a hospital.
“As Nick’s former fraternity brother and mentor, hearing the news was a massive shock,” Matthew Koren, ATO alumnus, said. “Although Nick’s time at Elmhurst was relatively short, the impact he made on those around him is undeniable.”
The family is raising $30,000 to help with Dávila’s recovery. EU’s ATO chapter is hosting the event to help reach that goal. As of Sunday, nearly 70% of funds had been raised.
During Tuesday’s event, 15% of all sales made from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. will be donated to support Dávila’s recovery.
“We’re coming together as a community to support Nicholas and his family during this time,” Brewpoint wrote on an Instagram post advertising the event.
Reese Davis, an ATO senior, said “Nick is one of the most adventurous and down-to-earth people I’ve had the pleasure of knowing, and it’s been incredible to see so many people come together for him and his family during this difficult time.”
Students who can not attend the event can donate directly to his GoFundMe page through the QR code.
