What a week it was to be Jay this Homecoming, as the big event kicked off Friday, Sept. 27 with the fall sports pep rally and bonfire, and ended with a Bluejay Volleyball and historic Football Win on Saturday, Sept. 28!

The Jays showed out on Homecoming making it one of the best nights of the year, with students and alumni coming out to cheer on the Fall Sports along with having a good time. There was mini-golfing, churros, popcorn, and EU pride all across campus on Friday, leading up to the finale, the laser show, which helped set the mood for Homecoming Day.

Bluejay students, alumni, families, and friends took to the parking lot as soon as 7 a.m. that Saturday morning to get ready to tailgate the football game and watch the parade. The tailgate and parade were both a success, attended widely by the community, who showed everyone what the real meaning of being a Jay was.

There were blowup bouncy houses, games, and races that were set up for everyone to enjoy. There was food being made by all the tents in the parking lot along with local food trucks lining the street. EU Clubs joined in the festivities as well, parked up and down the lot, holding mini-games for people to win prizes.

People were smiling and having a great time seeing old friends along with meeting new ones. Students came out to enjoy time with friends and family, and the EU Homecoming became a place of security. All helping lead up to the first big game of the day, football!

As people took to the stands and students took to the nest, the Jays felt something special in the air. They were able to pick up their first Homecoming win since 2016.

The Jays were led by a great offensive outing and outscored the Vikings from North Park, 28-21. The team looks to continue this for the rest of the year!

Women’s Volleyball also took home a win on Homecoming, sweeping Knox College in three sets. The Jays meant business as they were able to attack Knox College head-on. They look to carry this momentum into conference play.

There was a lot that happened this Homecoming, but the clearest message of them all is that once you’re a Jay, you are always a Jay.
