Bulvinis Blynas Recipe

Published by Jennie Bosas on November 14, 2023

Bulvinis Blynas

Ingredients:

4 large potatoes, peeled and grated

1 onion, finely chopped

2 eggs, beaten

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Vegetable oil for frying

Sour cream for serving

chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions:

Mix Ingredients:

In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, chopped onion, beaten eggs, flour, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.

Heat Oil:

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. The oil should be hot enough to sizzle when a small drop of the potato mixture is added.

Fry the Pancakes:

Take a spoonful of the potato mixture and drop it into the hot oil, flattening it with the back of the spoon. Fry the pancakes until they are golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Drain Excess Oil:

Once the pancakes are cooked, transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

Serve:

Serve the potato pancakes hot, garnished with a dollop of sour cream and chopped fresh herbs.

Enjoy these delicious Lithuanian latkes as a side dish or a main course. They are often served with sour cream, applesauce, or even a sprinkle of sugar.
