Five different last-minute Halloween costume ideas
This Halloween, I am once again stuck with having to come up with a last-minute costume. After being able to plan for over a year, there are only a couple of weeks left to figure out a costume that will wow everyone.
If you are in the same boat as me this spooky season, here are some costume ideas that are easy to obtain, and will not break the bank.
Cowboy/Cowgirl
This costume is rather simple. Almost everyone has a flannel in their closet, and if you don’t, luckily it’s the fall season; you can surely find one at any store. Finding a cheap cowboy hat can make everyone think that you are ready to round everyone up for a rodeo. I do not believe that you need cowboy boots for the look, so don’t sweat if you cannot find any — but extra points if you do.
“I’m a Mouse, Duh”
If you are not familiar with this iconic Karen Smith line, then please watch “Mean Girls” immediately. This costume provides a lot of freedom, just find something you like in your wardrobe and put a pair of mouse ears on top of it. No one will question you, because you are a mouse, duh.
Zombie Bride/Groom
The thrift store truly will be your best friend for this costume. There are a lot of old wedding dresses and suits for a cheap price. Once you find an outfit that fits, this is where you can have fun. Run the outfit over with your car, burn bits and pieces, stain the outfit; the dirtier, the better.
Having fun with makeup can help elevate the look. The best thing about it is because you are dead, it does not have to be perfect. The easiest way to zombie-fy your face is by putting a dark eyeshadow under your eyelids to give you that dead look.
Of course, any article of clothing can be zombified and it is not essential to be a zombie bride or groom. You can be a zombie student and that will work perfectly (although, I feel like most of us are already there minus the costume).
Charlie Brown Ghost
This is one of the most iconic costumes from a classic Halloween movie. It’s quite simple — just get a plain white sheet and cut holes everywhere. If you are in a time crunch, a faster way may be to just color circles in with a sharpie. Hopefully if you are trick or treating with this costume, you won’t get any rocks.
Barbie/Ken
I believe this couple’s concept of Barbie and Ken is not done enough for Halloween, and it is quite easy. For Barbie, you really can wear anything that’s pink. Even if you aren’t blonde, a wig can help you achieve the Barbie fantasy. There are so many references to pull from — between her different dolls and movies, the possibilities of what Barbie you can be are endless.
For Ken, the easiest way to look like him is to wear a button-up shirt unbuttoned, and some swim shorts. When I think of Ken, a typical surfer beach boy comes to my mind. Again, endless possibilities with what you can wear, there really is no limit.
