SGA shares updates about campus investigation over recent incidents

Published by Syeda Sameeha on November 5, 2019

After meeting with President Troy VanAken, Student Government Association (SGA) shared what they learned about the ongoing investigation over hate speech and threatening messages found on campus at their October 31 meeting.

“The FBI is involved with the investigation,” said SGA president Alex Schultz. “They [administration] had a meeting with Elmhurst City Manager and Elmhurst Police Department. On top of that, the county is involved and the state's attorney.”

At the end of the SGA meeting, Schultz called for a closed session for only SGA senators to “check in with everybody.”

“I simply wanted to do a check-in where everyone in the room felt safe to speak,” said Schultz. “I don’t know anything else about the investigation, but the reason we’re closing the meeting is so everybody has the opportunity to speak openly about their own personal experiences or anything you want to share.”
