Conservative student responds to Noah Pearson’s October 8 column, ‘You are censoring yourself.’

Published by leaderadmin on October 22, 2019

Dear Editor,

I am here to tell you that I am a conservative student who actually does have the balls, conviction, and worthwhile opinions to bring to the table. I am also not "too lazy to show up". In fact, I participated in last year's forum hosted by EC Justice regarding the 2018 midterm elections. In case you do not remember, I was there speaking on behalf of former Republican governor Bruce Rauner.

As a right-wing individual, I am always willing to defend my opinion because, contrary to your belief, conservatism is worth defending. I am a member of the NRA, I donate monthly to the Republican Party, and I even have a Trump sticker on the back of my car.

You claimed that no matter what you say or do, there will be no conservative response. Clearly you were wrong.

 Sincerely,

 Jesse Olesen (senior, political science)
