EU student creates “The Tailgate Boutique”
began making her first creations. Her father encouraged her to sell her clothing and the rest, as they say, is history.
When she started creating pieces for her store, Ponce worked with her sister, but since her sister has gone away to college, Ponce is operating by herself.
When it comes to inspiration, Ponce relies on herself to come up with the design ideas for her store.
“Sometimes it comes to me,” Ponce said. “It comes from playing with templates and designs and people telling me what they want.”
Currently, interested customers can purchase through her Instagram, while plans on growing her company are a possibility.
“[I am] open to [expanding the store] to Etsy,” Ponce said.
Ponce’s favorite thing about working on The Tailgate Boutique is seeing people wear her clothes.
She also has loved meeting new people through the shop, and with the growth of her store, she wants her customers to feel unique, especially with the different fonts she has to offer.
Esbeyda Martinez, a junior at EU, recently purchased matching shirts with her roommate and is impressed with Ponce’s work.
“I absolutely love my tie-dye t-shirt. It's super vibrant and comfortable so I will be ordering more,” said Martinez. “Jackie was very creative with the packaging as well and is overall a very sweet person.”
When asked about the future of The Tailgate Boutique she said hopes to keep it a small business, as she sees it as a hobby.
“I’m super busy, but I’m going with the flow,” said Ponce with a hopeful grin.
