It’s Fall Y’all! Tips For Getting Into The Spirit of the Season
Crispy leaves, pumpkin spice, cozy sweaters, cooler temperatures, and Halloween decorations all signify that Fall is here and many students are thriving with the changing season.
Struggling to get into the fall season, or just simply wanting more ways to make the most of the season? Here are a few ways to embrace Fall on and off the Elmhurst University campus.
On campus:
There are many upcoming events this month that center around all things Fall and Halloween.
Union Board is hosting their annual Fall Fest on Oct. 24 and the Elmhurst University Dance Company is hosting a “Monster Mash Dance-a-thon” on Oct. 27. The International Student Association also has a Global Halloween event on Oct. 29 and Halloween Festivities with the EU Art Club and EU Origami Club will be on Oct. 30.
Other events such as the Black Student Union’s Fireside S’more & Fun on Oct. 17 are perfect for feeling cozy in this fall season.
Events are a great way to get involved and take advantage of what EU organizations have to offer this “spooky season.”
Another way to embrace the falling leaves on campus is to spend time outside!
EU has a beautiful nature-heavy campus that looks gorgeous during the fall semester. All the trees begin to change and you can hear the leaves blowing across the ground, a distinct sound of the season.
A pretty campus walk during the fall can be very relaxing and a great way to spend time with friends outdoors.
Off-Campus:
There are many haunted houses, apple orchards, and pumpkin patches not too far from EU.
A more local spot that many students love to go to each year is Sonny Acres Farm in West Chicago.
While it’s an hour drive, Jonamac Orchard in Malta, IL, is also a fun option and has a great Haunted Corn Maze during October.
Not up for the drive? There are plenty of local coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance from campus that have sweet treats and fall items to curve that fall flavor craving. Brewpoint, a hot spot for a lot of students, currently has exciting drinks like their Apple Pie Chai that are sure to hit the spot!
Halloween and “spooky season” more your vibe? York Theatre will be showing multiple horror movies this month, including the upcoming Smile 2 which comes out on Oct. 18.
Exploring the neighborhoods and looking for Halloween decorations can be fun too! Many of the homes in Elmhurst like to decorate for the Halloween season, some going all out each year.
As Summer ends and students have to say goodbye to the bright, warm sunny days, finding ways to embrace Fall can make the semester and the weather outside all the more exciting! The cozy, fall season has started so make the most of it!
